On December 6, 2016, at approximately 9:40 a.m., officers from the South Porcupine Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to intercept a stolen motor vehicle travelling north bound on Highway 144.

The motor vehicle was abandoned and two suspects left the motor vehicle on foot into a wooded area off of Highway 144.

At 3:30 p.m., the OPP North East Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) with the assistance of the OPP North East Region Canine, located and arrested two male parties.

As a result of the investigation the OPP have charged, Nathaniel BLAIR, 18, of Peterborough, Ontario has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer, contrary to section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking, contrary to section 145(5.1) of the Criminal Code
  • 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Sentence, contrary to section 137 of  the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA)

Police have also arrested and charged a 17 year old male from Peterborough, Ontario who cannot be named as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.  His charges include:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer, contrary to section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Fail to Comply with Sentence, contrary to section 137 of  the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA)

Both males remain in custody until their bail hearing on December 8, 2016.
