The Timmins Police Service is in receipt of a number of complaints from the organizers of the skate park at Hollinger Park in reference to trespassing by snowmobilers.

Recently, trespassers on snowmobiles have caused damage to the hydro connections necessary to provide lighting for this local attraction.

The damage thus far is pegged at approximately $4000.00.

The matter is deemed to an act of Public Mischief and is currently under investigation by the Timmins Police Service.

That said, the Timmins Police Service is issuing a public advisory to local snowmobilers to obey
the established municipal by-laws and the provisions of the Trespass to Property Act that essentially dictate that snowmobile traffic is prohibited in this area.

The cooperation of local snowmobilers will ensure that the skate park organizers will be able to complete the necessary site preparations without being exposed to unnecessary repairs and associated costs for such repairs.

Hollinger Park is to be enjoyed by pedestrian traffic only.

Snowmobilers are asked to act responsibly and to respect the applicable laws to enhance public safety and avoid damage to public and private property.
