As more companies opt to build products with robots, DSB One knows expanding their robotics programs will be key.

The board was displaying their technology in the classroom Tuesday afternoon in an effort to showcase what their schools are offering.

Board Chair Doug Shearer says by re-purposing some library space and teaching kids about robots, iPads and even coding, their kids are a step ahead.

“Workers are not actually laying hands on products, they’re overseeing the robots that now build the product,” he said, “And so their understanding of how those robots work and what they need to do to tweak them or whatever, that’s a rapidly growing part of industry.”

Shearer adds this is something seen across Canada, but the board has been proactive with their technology programs.

The TH&VS Robotics team was also on hand.  The school will be offering a robotics course in September.
