For years, those answering charges have gone into the 101 Mall to go before a judge…but that could be changing.

The courthouse on the second floor of the mall looks to be undergoing a future review if the Timmins Police Services Board has anything to say about it.

The issue of safety was brought up most recently after a prisoner escaped custody while officers were escorting them into the building.

Right now, prisoners are unloaded on the side of the building on Fifth Avenue and are moved upstairs on court day.

A request to review the logistics will be sent to the province and the Attorney General.  Timmins city council will get a say in the matter too.
