Business is booming on one of Timmins’ newest streets, capped off by a massive opening six years in the making.

The Bucket Shop officially opened their new $15 million dollar facility on McBride Street Wednesday, which is situated on a 60-thousand square foot lot and features many amenities to service the mining industry.

It’s also pretty state-of-the-art, all the way down to the motion sensor lights.

Much of the machinery is CNC, or Computer Numerical Controlled, like their 780 ton break press and their 100 foot water cutting table.

Perhaps their biggest advancement are the nine cranes, capable of holding up to 70 tonnes.

Vice President Paul Woodward says these services is allowing the local mining industry to get the service they need without having to head further south.

Paul credits his father, company President Ross—the first of three generations of Woodwards involved in the family business—for getting the business to where it is today.

Ross says they’ve had to put this project on the back burner a couple of times due to the economy. But finally, they were able to break ground in 2015.

He was complimentary of the funding help received from FedNor and NOHFC, along with local groups like the Timmins Economic Development Corporation and the Timmins Chamber of Commerce.

Paul adds their primary focus now is hiring workers capable of doing the work required.
