2 people charged in Mushkegowuk office break in

An investigation into the theft of numerous electronic devices at Timmins’ Mushkegowuk Council office has led to charges for a couple locals.

Timmins Police say the break in happened both September 2nd and 3rd, with “numerous laptops, tablets, a flat-screen television and Canadian currency” all taken from the Birch South location.

Police say the value of the stolen goods from the office ranged between $30,000 and $40,000.

Police say many of the items have been recovered—which you can see below—along with other stolen goods like laptops and tools.

28-year old Dominic Scott and 36-year old Joseph Steed both face numerous charges.  They were also charged in separate incidents, though it’s unknown if those incidents were one in the same.

Scott’s charges include (* – separate incident):

• Break, Enter and Commit Theft over $5000
• Trafficking in Stolen Property under $5000
• Theft from a Motor Vehicle*
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime*
• Possession of a Schedule I substance*

Scott was held in custody and has an October 10th court date.

Meantime, Steed was charged with (* – separate incident):

• Break, Enter and Commit Indictable Offence
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
• Trafficking in Stolen Goods under $5000
• Trespassing at Night*
• Personation with Intent to Avoid Arrest*
• Possession of a Schedule II Substance*
• Breach of Probation*

Steed will appear in court via video remand on September 22nd.
