For the first time, Timmins Police had to use a Naloxone kit for a drug overdose.

And it turned into positive results.

Police say they received a call Monday about someone suffering a suspected opioid overdose. When they got to the scene, the individual in question was unresponsive.

“After officers received information from witnesses on scene, Naloxone was administered via intranasal spray, and the individual quickly regained consciousness,” police say, “The female patient was then transferred to the care of paramedics.”

Frontline officers first received Naloxone kits last month.

But even though officers have these kits to help save lives, police continue to remind residents about the dangers of opiates, such as Fentanyl, Oxycodone and heroin.

“The only way to guarantee a positive outcome in relation to these incidents is to refrain from consuming these dangerous drugs.”
