On October 14, 2017, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers of the Kapuskasing Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Cochrane District Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were advised of an injured female at a residence on Brunetville Road in the Town of Kapuskasing.

The female was transported to a local hospital via ambulance where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries and later released.

Police have arrested and charged Daphne WESLEY, 33 years of age, of Kapuskasing, Ontario with the following offences:

  • Assault With a Weapon
  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm
  • Two Counts of Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking Given by Officer in Charge

Police have also arrested and charged Stewart SHIELDS, 44 years of age, of Opasatika, Ontario with the following offences:

  • Assault With a Weapon
  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm

The accused female remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, Ontario on October 20, 2017 to answer to the charges.

The accused male also remains in custody and is scheduled for a video bail hearing with the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, Ontario on October 24, 2017 to answer to the charges.
