A Timmins woman charged in the death of her seven-week-old infant child has been sentenced to three years in jail.

According to a Postmedia report, 27-year old Jessica Sullivan pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing death Tuesday.

They say the child—born September 22, 2015—weighed 34 grams less than his birth weight when he was rushed to hospital with no vital signs on November 17th.

Defense Lawyer Ben Dawkins suggested Sullivan may have struggled with depression when this all happened.

Sullivan had already served four months in police custody, and was given credit for time served as part of a pre-plea custody deal. So her sentence will go for another 32 months.

The father, Jeremy Stewart, pleaded guilty to failing to provide necessities to life last fall.

He was sentenced to 18 months in jail and a year of probation.
