NEOnet Holds 2017 Annual General Meeting at Northern College, Porcupine Campus – New Board of Directors Elected

 

Timmins, ON – On Thursday, April 19th, 2017, NEOnet hosted the 2017 edition of their Annual General Meeting, held at Northern College – Quill Lounge.  Thirty-one (31) attendees, comprised of Stakeholders, Members, 2017-2018 Board of Directors and Staff were in attendance or online for the event.

 

Chairperson Gerard Bruneau, Paul Ouimette (Director of Operations) and Laura Imhoff (Project Coordinator), highlighted the achievements, successes as well as the projects and programs delivered in in 2017.

 

2017 Accomplishments included:

  • 97 applicants in the BEAM program (Broadband for E-Business and Marketing)
  • 16 applicants in the STAMP program (Small Business Technology Assessment and Planning)
  • STAMP participants are now eligible to access the remainder of the maximum funding of $6,250 towards technology implementation initiatives. The STAMP program is now open to all of Northern Ontario
  • The Municipal Geographical Information System (GIS) project ended in December 2017.  Twenty-three (23) municipalities, one health unit and one first nation community benefitted from this initiative.
  • 25 regional presentations were conducted in 2017 with 2 being delivered online for remote participants
  • A new project was launched in 2017 – TechSocial: Empowering Older Adults Through Mobile Technologies, with support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation

 

Past chairperson and dedicated board member Denis Bérubé was recognized for his 15 years of service as a NEOnet Board of Director.

 

 

Board elections were held to appoint the 2018-2019 Board, followed by the new Board of Directors meeting where the Executive was chosen:
