**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service responded to an altercation involving an assault with an edged weapon at the intersection of Mountjoy Street North and Sixth Avenue in Timmins during the early morning hours of Sunday June 17th.

Upon arrival at the scene, Timmins Police officers located a female victim and a male victim who were able to provide descriptions of the event and the suspects, both of whom had fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The responding Timmins Police Service officers began their investigation and arrested a male person a short distance from the scene.

The Timmins Police were also able to locate and arrest the second suspect, a female person, a short while later.

A 24 year old female victim was treated at the Timmins and District Hospital for injuries sustained in the altercation and has since been released from hospital.

The male victim sustained no injury requiring medical treatment.

Leo COTE, 25, of Timmins has been arrested and charged with:
– Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

COTE was released from custody with a court date of July 23rd at Provincial Court in Timmins.

Katlynne OSAWAMICK, 21, of Timmins has been arrested and charged with:
– Attempted Murder contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Aggravated Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

OSAWAMICK has been held in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated to take place this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
