Timmins_Police_Service_logo_updThe Timmins Police Service, along with Ontario’s Special Investigation Unit, continues to investigate a motor vehicle collision which occurred on Monday, May 18, 2015 in the area of Sandy Falls Rd. and Shirley St.

The Timmins Police Service, along with the Timmins Fire Department and EMS paramedics responded to the scene at approximately 8:00 p.m., where they located the male driver, 18 years old, and the female passenger, 17 years old, with serious injuries. Both individuals were transported to hospital. The driver of the vehicle succumbed to his injuries during the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 19, 2015.

The Timmins Police Service can confirm that the passenger, a 17 year-old female of Timmins is currently in stable condition, recovering in hospital.
Information received during the investigation indicates that following the collision, an assault with a weapon took place, both in and outside of the vehicle, leading to the injuries sustained by the female victim.

The investigation is ongoing at this time; therefore no further information is available. The names of the individuals involved in this incident are not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim as per the Timmins Police Service’s standard practice.
