summersafetyIt’s time to swing for summer safety with the Toronto Blue Jays and the Timmins Fire Department.

Only 5 Fire Departments across the Province have been chosen to take part in the annual “Swing into Summer Safety” Campaign, and Timmins was chosen.

This campaign is aimed at improving public safety in Ontario by educating and raising awareness with school aged children and their families about fire safety and other injury prevention tips over the summer.

To increase public awareness of the “Swing into Summer Safety” Campaign, they are hosting an afternoon at the Dusty Baker Baseball Field with 30 Grade 5 to 6 students from Schumacher Public School.

The Event will start at off by joining in the Province wide launch into this year’s “Swing into Safety” Campaign scheduled for 12 noon. The kids launch the Campaign by tossing their baseballs to the Fire Prevention Team and Firefighters. The kids will enjoy time with our local Firefighters playing catch, touring the Firetrucks followed by a picnic lunch.

Afterwards the Fire Prevention Team will then meet up at Schumacher Public School with the entire school to talk about Fire Safety and distribute the many prizes including a set of 4 Blue Jays field-level tickets. (Supplied by the Fire Safety Council and the Toronto Blue Jays.)
