Comedy Showcase

It’s April Fool’s this week and this weekend to joke will definitely be on you.The Timmins Comedy Festival is roaring back to town with headliners like Mike Bullard, Jen Grant, Glen Foster, and Derek Seguin.  Organizer, Rick Lemieux says Seguin was recently voted the best Canadian comedian by Sirius XM Radio.  He also has another reason for bringing a big name act like Seguin.

“It’s the first time for the festival we’ve added a French show.  We do have a lot of people who speak French in Timmins and it’s something we had to add.  I wanted to bring in the top guy to kick off the show.”

Lemieux is also showcasing his own comedic talents that night with his first French set.

“Some jokes you write in English don’t work in French so you have to rework it. It makes me a little nervous about and it feels like i’m doing comedy for the first time again. That’s why I want to do my first french show in Timmins because the people are nice and I know the community and I might get a pity laugh.”

Lemieux is also looking forward to Thursday’s Innapropriate show featuring Kenny Robinson and Jen Grant.  He says if you’re easily offended, stay away from this show.

“Usually you tell a comedian to tone in back but they were told they can let loose and anything goes.”

Tickets are sold out for the Friday night show hosted by Mike Bullard but tickets are still available for the Thursday’s shows, the Kid show Saturday, and the Showcase that night at 8pm.
