timmins humane societyThe Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Timmins & District Humane Society are seeking the public’s assistance in finding the owner of an emaciated dog.

A female, brindle coloured Boxer type dog was brought to the Timmins and District Humane Society on Friday, May 6, 2016 in the early evening. The person who dropped her off stated she was found earlier in the day off Highway 11 around Temagami, Ontario.

The dog was found to be in very poor body condition, with little to no fat on her body. Veterinary care was provided to the dog and she is responding well to treatment.

Her picture was posted to the Timmins and District Humane Society’s website, as well as through social media to try and identify the owner/caregiver; however, no one came forward to claim her.

The dog, which has been named “Vera”, has been adopted into her forever home; however, members of the Ontario SPCA’s investigation unit are interested in speaking to the former owner(s) of this dog.

“We hope that anyone who can assist the Society on this case will contact us.  It is important for people to understand that if they are unable to provide appropriate care for an animal, that they need to seek assistance via their local shelter or the Ontario SPCA,” said Ontario SPCA Senior Inspector Lynn Michaud.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Ontario SPCA at 310-SPCA or the Timmins and District Humane Society at 705-264-1816.  All calls are confidential.
