Nobody will wear 7 or 27 with the Toronto Maple Leafs ever again.

That was the decree from the Leafs during their 100th anniversary celebrations Saturday night at the Air Canada Centre.

Beforehand, Cochrane’s Tim Horton and Schumacher’s Frank Mahovlich had their numbers honoured by the team, but kept their numbers in circulation.

But now all the numbers that were previously honoured by the team—1, 4, 7, 9, 10, 13, 14, 17, 21, 27 and 93—are out of circulation and considered retired — including number 21 for Borje Salming.  James van Riemsdyk as a result, is now playing with number 25.

It’s been a long week of excitement for Leafs fans, and if you remember, it was about a month and a half ago when the old ACC banner of Tim Horton was brought to Cochrane’s Tim Horton Event Centre.  Timmins is still awaiting the ceremony for Mahovlich and Bill Barilko.

This week, Horton was also immortalised in Legend’s Row, a lineup of statues around the front of the ACC.
