Residents along the James Bay coast will have faster emergency helicopter assistance after all this summer.

After originally planning to temporarily shut down the Ornge air ambulance base in Moosonee, the company has ruled that the base will be open with a spare helicopter.

The helicopters currently in use will still go to London for maintenance work.

Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson wondered why the shutdown was happening in the first place, when this change of plans being the norm at the other bases in Sudbury, Kenora, Thunder Bay and Toronto.
