It was a busy weekend for Timmins Police, responding to over 200 calls for service.

Among the calls saw five assault cases, all resulting in charges.

On April 29, at approximately 12:00 a.m., police received a report of an assault. The victim reported that he had been assaulted by an individual during an altercation outside of a local establishment. Later, the victim alleged that property at his residence had been damaged, including a housing structure for a pet. The damage to the structure is alleged to have resulted in the animal’s death.

Following investigation by police, Reno WESLEY, 21, of Timmins, was charged with Assault, Mischief (x2), Injuring or Endangering an animal, and Fail to Comply with Probation x3. Police also investigated a complaint of an additional assault on another victim, resulting in additional charges of Assault and Breach of Probation.

Wesley was held in custody pending a bail hearing set for May 1.

Also on April 29, at approximately 4:20 p.m., police received a call regarding an unwanted and intoxicated male at a residence. Upon arriving on scene, officers learned that the male was bound by an Undertaking, with a condition not to consume alcohol. In an attempt to place the individual under arrest, it is alleged that the male began to resist and became combative.

This led officers to engage their use of force options, including the use of a Conductive Energy Weapon (CEW) to gain compliance. Officers were able to safely gain control over the individual.

Patrick DION, 33, of Timmins faces charges of Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest, and Breach of Undertaking. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing set for May 1.

Additionally, on April 29, at approximately 4:25 a.m., police were called to a domestic dispute at a residence. During an altercation, a female is alleged to have struck a male victim with an object. The male victim was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

A 35 year-old female was charged with Assault with a weapon, and was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for May 1. Due to the domestic nature of the incident, the accused’s name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.

On April 30, 2017 at approximately 2:30 a.m., police were called to a local establishment regarding a disturbance involving several individuals. Upon police arrival, two males were found to be engaged in a physical altercation.

Police attempted to gain control of the individuals, leading to one male allegedly becoming combative toward police. The officer safely gained control of the individual and both males were placed under arrest.

As a result, Ryan DUVAL, 34, of Timmins was charged with Cause Disturbance and Resist Peace Officer.  Cedrik LAROCHELLE, 19, of Timmins was charged with Cause Disturbance.

Both individuals were released on a Promise to Appear in court, with a future date of May 30, 2017.

Other calls for service included 11 disturbances, nine domestic disputes, 13 noise complaints, and nine calls involving unwanted persons.
