Despite no provincial funding, the city will go ahead with Connecting Link construction as planned.

Timmins city council voted unanimously to take out a $4-million dollar debenture, which will be paid down over the next 10 years.

Beforehand, $955,000 was earmarked to help supplement the then-potential funding.  But now that money is being split up.

$678,000 will go to an account to help pay down the debenture.  $277,000 will be put towards this year’s shave and pave program.

The work planned this year extends from where the city finished last year between Timmins and South Porcupine, to the bottom of Rea Hill—approximately 1.2 kilometres.
