Dressed in khaki-coloured pants and a blue long-sleeved shirt, a Timmins man accused of murder sat in the prisoner’s box to begin a preliminary hearing Tuesday morning.

Nathan Koostachin was charged with first-degree murder in the death of 19-year old Austin Theriault in Bozzer Park on Airport Road in July 2016.

Many of Theriault’s family and friends were in attendance as well.

Evidence entered throughout the hearing is subject to a publication ban.

The hearing is expected to last up to three days.
