A Timmins man is facing multiple charges after an incident Thursday near the Algonquin-Brunette intersection.

Police state they were responding to a call regarding threats being made against the driver of a local service vehicle.

“Information received indicated that a client began making threatening comments to the driver of the vehicle, at which point the driver called 911,” police say in a release.

“Officers located the vehicle in the area of Algonquin Blvd. and Brunette Rd., and initiated a traffic stop. An assault with a weapon on the driver is reported to have taken place. Once officers approached the vehicle, the driver was able to flee to safety.”

The accused, 37-year old Kevin Wheesk, allegedly refused to comply with police demands when police tried making an arrest, displaying “aggression and resistance toward officers.”

It was then that officers used the Conducted Energy Weapon to safely gain control of the situation.

The unidentified victim suffered minor injuries.

Wheesk is facing charges of Uttering Threats, Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Resist Peace Officer, and Possession of a Schedule I Substance.

Wheesk was held in custody and scheduled for a bail hearing Friday. No details on how the hearing went.
