While men’s and women’s recreational soccer has been a mainstay in the north end of the city, baseball has joined the fold after being forced from Hollinger Park due to remediation efforts.

SOCCER UPDATE
Over on the soccer pitch, Timmins United and Dunrite Rubber Wolfpack remain undefeated on the men’s and women’s side respectively.

The Wolfpack started the week Wednesday with a 0-0 draw against Restore Physiotherapy Pandas but notched their 8th win of the season Sunday night, a 2-1 decision over Porcupine Kinsmen.

The Kinsmen had two other games this week, notching a 3-0 win Wednesday over Tisdale Plumbing and Heating/Eclipse Financial but took a 1-0 loss the following evening to the Pandas.

The Pandas sit a point behind first place. Not far behind them are Rehab Plus, who climbed within six points of second spot with a 4-0 win over those same Pandas Sunday.

The other TWLS game this week saw Rehab Plus draw the Timmins Terminators 1-1 Thursday.

The women are back Monday night with a pair of contests at Timmins High. First up, the Wolfpack play Rehab Plus at 6pm, followed by the Terminators and Tisdale Plumbing and Heating/Eclipse Financial at 7:30pm.

To the men’s side, where TUFC started the week with a 5-0 win over Let’s Try Soccer Again to go to 8-0.

They hold a comfortable 15 point lead over second place—which is shared by the Rebels, Blizzard and LTSA—dominating the competition with 52 goals for and just eight against.

LTSA finished the week 0-2 after a 2-1 loss to Blizzard. The other game on record saw the Rebels beat up on Gunners FC 5-2.

The Gunners were also scheduled to play in Kapuskasing Friday night, but it was cancelled due to a lack of players available to travel up Highway 655.

Kapuskasing also had a game scheduled in Timmins Sunday night against the Rebels, but the result was not immediately available.

The next scheduled game for the men is Thursday at 7:30pm, when TUFC and Rebels lock up in the lone contest at TRASC.
