The old Frank P. Krznaric Whitney Public School location is turning into an apartment complex.

Timmins city council approved the motion, put forth by the current owner of the building, Rubino Real Estate Holdings Inc.

The building was sold by DSB-One to Robert Rubino back in November 2016 after the school closed down in June 2014.

It will now become a 23-unit apartment building.

Councillor Walter Wawrzaszek says it’s great news for the east end of town.

“It’s going to revitalize this area,” he noted at council back on July 18th, “It’s great to see entrepreneurs like Robert Rubino working out of south end.”

The building was constructed in 1972. Construction timelines are not yet known.
