With the long weekend ahead and trouble in Texas, you had to assume gas prices were going up.

And they did…by a wide margin.

Most local pumps now sit at over $1.31 a litre. That’s a jump of nine cents from earlier in the day, when it sat at just over $1.22 a litre.

Hurricane Harvey is said to be at fault, as the storm forced many refineries to shut down and driving up US prices.

And it’s said prices could go even higher as the storm continues to cause flooding.
