If you’re brave enough to be outside during this deep freeze, Skate Hollinger operator Ken Pye says they’re open for business.

He says the figure-8 and “Pine Street” are ready to skate on.

And while he’s not expecting to see too many people outdoors during minus 30 to 40 windchills, he says they are once again accepting Christmas trees to line the figure-8 track.

However, they aren’t just taking any tree.

“We don’t want any ‘Charlie Brown’ trees or artificial trees,” he said, “Just a nice spruce or balsam trees, naturally cut trees.”

There are disposal sites across the city too, and some of those trees will be sent over to Hollinger Park.

If you’re unsure, you can contact Pye on the Sk8te Hollinger Facebook page.

Meantime, Pye adds he’s looking for rink, fire and coffee shop attendants.

Again, go to the Facebook page if you’re looking to volunteer.
