Beginning today, 18 teams are vying to represent Canada for an Olympic first.

The Canadian mixed doubles curling trials are being held in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba until January 7th including the team of Tyler Stewart and Nicole Westlund-Stewart (based out of Kitchener).

Tyler is a Timmins native.

The pair is in Pool B and will play six matchups. Eight teams will advance to the playoff rounds and the winning pair will represent Canada in the inaugural event in Pyeongchang, South Korea in February.
