When the Timmins Rock return to action at home Sunday (at 7:00pm vs. Hearst), they’ll have a new face in the audience fans will surely enjoy.

The team has a new mascot, donated by team sponsor Fountain Tire.

Team President Ted Gooch says they wanted him to have the look of a miner from the olden days.

He comes complete with a pick axe, boots, gloves and of course Timmins Rock colours.

With all that though, Gooch says he is missing one thing: a name.

For that, the team will host a social media campaign, taking suggestions from the public.

“We’re hoping to run it for a short time, about a week,” he said, “And then we’ll have a decision shortly.”

Those who suggest the name that gets picked will be entered into a draw for a prize pack, including a pair of tickets for the rest of the NOJHL season.

Gooch says the mascot will be there for game days, as well as many other functions and visits with the team in the community.

(Insert name) will also be available for pictures at the game against the Lumberjacks Sunday.
