The Timmins police is issuing an advisory about thefts from sheds and parked cars in the city. According to TPS, with summer weather and prolonged daylight, petty criminals are taking advantage of property owner, by attempting thefts of vehicles and storage units. TPS is issuing a crime prevention advisory, with a message behind it: lock it or lose it. Vehicle owners should lock their vehicles at all time, even if they leave their car briefly. Items such as phones and tablets should not be stored in vehicles. If they need to be in an unattended vehicle, valuables like electronics and purses should be kept out of sight. Storage units and garages should be locked at all times, and using curtains for any windows looking into storage spaces is recommended.
