**Timmins Police Service News Release**


The Timmins Police Service responded to a call for service in regards to a theft in progress occurrence at a west end retailer in the city of Timmins during the early evening hours of Tuesday August 21st.
Upon arrival at the scene, Timmins Police officers halted a theft suspect identified to them by an internal loss prevention officer.

 
It is alleged that the suspect amassed jewelry and electronic devices while in the store and attempted to flee without making any legitimate attempt to make payment.
 
The male suspect was eventually taken into custody.
 
A thorough investigation was completed by the officers in regards to the theft and all stolen items were located and returned to the retailer.
 
Jordan EDWARDS, 32, of Timmins, has been arrested and charged with:
– Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused remains in police custody while awaiting a Bail Hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
