Every day this week we are featuring platform highlights from the Ward Councillor candidates in the upcoming election. Our stations have reached out to each Councillor candidate to outline their platform for listeners. This is Ward 5 Councillor candidate John Ivanovs’ submitted platform.

I was born in Timmins  and  left at the age of 17 to attend McMaster in Hamilton. I returned  about 12 years ago to look after my aging parents when my father lost his sight. I am divorced with three children in their early thirties and one beautiful grand daughter.

I believe that the city is in a dire financial crisis and the next council will be facing a truly epic challenge to get the city back on the right track. Our focus must be on returning fiscal responsibility and accountability to the administration of our city.

Our focus must be on restoring out infrastructure. We cannot afford to waste taxpayers’ money on needless consultant fees and dream project. We must return sanity and common sense to council.
