**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian during yesterday’s early evening hours in the eastbound lanes of Algonquin Blvd just west of the intersection of Hwy 655.

Timmins Police Service – Traffic Section investigators were able to determine that the pedestrian was crossing Algonquin.

The injured pedestrian was transported to Timmins and District Hospital by ambulance for medical attention.

The full extent of any injuries is unknown at this time however the injured pedestrian was conscious while at the scene and during transport to hospital.

The Timmins Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in terms of any witnesses to come forward to share their information with investigators.

The Timmins Police Service wish to remind all pedestrians to be mindful of their obligations to cross streets only when it is safe to do so and to use crosswalks designed for their safety rather than crossing mid street. Such actions pose a direct threat to the safety and wellbeing of the individual pedestrian.

Visibility is reduced during fall and winter months so strict adherence to your obligations as a responsible pedestrian will result in enhanced safety. .
