**KAPUSKASING OPP NEWS RELEASE**


On November 30, 2018, at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft occurrence at a local business on Government Road in Kapuskasing, Ontario.

 

Police attended the area and arrested a female. During the arrest, a male fled from police, eastbound, into a wooded area behind local businesses.

 

Sara-Jade AUDET, 21 years of age, of Sainte-Marie, Quebec, has been charged with the following offences:

 

  • Four counts of Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC),
  • Two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to section 91(1) CC,
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition contrary to section 86(1) CC,
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purposes contrary to section 88 CC;
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle contrary to section 333.1 CC,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) CC, and
  • Resist Arrest contrary to section 129(a) CC.

 

Kevin DEBLOIS, 21 years of age, of Sainte-Marie, Quebec, has been charged with the following offences:

 

  • Two counts of Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) CC,
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to section 91(1) CC,
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition contrary to section 86(1) CC,
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purposes contrary to section 88 CC;
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle contrary to section 333.1 CC,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 355(b) CC,
  • Firearm – Use While Committing Offence contrary to section 85(1)(a) CC,
  • Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime contrary to section 96(a) CC,
  • Resist Arrest contrary to section 129(a) CC,
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order contrary to section 117.01(1) CC, and
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) CC.

 

 

The accused persons have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, Ontario on December 10, 2018.
