**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**

The Timmins Police Service is issuing a public notice in regards to its annual “Cram the Cruiser” food drive which will take place this Saturday (December 15th) at five area grocery stores.

The Timmins Police Service Auxiliary Unit, working in conjunction with the South Porcupine OPP Auxiliary Unit will be collecting donated non-perishable food items to be distributed among four area food banks.

These volunteer police personnel will be set up between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. this Saturday at:
– Levis Foodland on Airport Road
– Timmins Metro on Algonquin Blvd
– Food Basics on Brunette Road
– Your Independent Grocer on Algonquin Blvd
– the Metro situated at the Porcupine Mall location.

The public is encouraged to contribute as best they can to this worthy cause to serve the needs of the less fortunate at this festive time of year.

Organizers are particularly grateful to the Timmins Budget car rental franchise for its donation of a cube van to assist with the collection of food donations.

All food and cash collected in this campaign will benefit the following organizations:
– The Timmins Food Bank
– The Porcupine Food Bank
– Project Love
– The First Baptist Church

Last year, this campaign collected over 4800 lbs of non-perishable food donations along with $3200.00 in cash to the benefit of area food banks. It is hoped that, with the spirit of the holiday season in mind, that these totals will be matched or surpassed this year.
