**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man in relation to a disturbance at a downtown tavern yesterday afternoon.

Timmins Police Service officers responded to a call where a man had re-attended a local tavern after being asked to leave a number of times and allegedly became verbally abusive towards the patrons and staff of the tavern.

At one point, the man is alleged to have damaged tavern property by upending a table and throwing various items about the place.

A Timmins Police Service officer located the man in the area and completed an arrest of the suspect.

As a result, Adam PORTER, 40, of Timmins has been charged with:
– Causing a Disturbance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Mischief under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

As a result of a separate incident while in custody, an additional charge of:
– Attempt to Disarm a Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada has been laid against the accused.

The charged person remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
