It’s the second-to-last weekend before Christmas, and the whole city is in the holiday spirit. There are lots of Christmas events and activities going on this weekend that you won’t want to miss.

 

Holiday Night Market

92.1 ROCK, Skoser Merch and the Working Class are hosting the first ever Holiday Night Market. This event is perfect for late night shoppers looking for something special. There will be a wide variety of talented vendors at the Working Class, including Crystal Vault Designs, Hometown Records and Coeur du Nord. The market officially opens tonight, Dec. 14th, at 8 PM at the Working Class. Any non-perishable food will be accepted upon entry and donated to the South Porcupine Food Bank.

 

Cans Film Festival

Head to Imagine Cinema 6 on Saturday, Dec. 15th for some classic holiday movies. Attendees are encouraged to bring a can of non-perishable food, but even if you can’t, you’re welcome anyways. It’s Imagine Cinema 6’s Annual Cans Film Festival, this Saturday, Dec. 15th at 10 AM. Doors open at 9, and seating is limited and it’s first come first served. The classic holiday movies this year are Elf and A Christmas Story. Tickets only available on the day-of. All canned and dry goods will be donated to the Good Samaritan Inn.

 

Timmins Police Cram a Cruiser Food Drive

Police cruisers will be at local grocery stores around Timmins and South Porcupine this Saturday, Dec. 15th, collecting food for their Annual Cram a Cruiser Event. The Timmins Police Auxiliary Unit, along with the South Porcupine OPP Auxiliary Unit, will be at five local grocery stores on Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM. They will be located at Levis Foodland, Timmins Metro, Food Basics, Your Independent Grocer, and Metro in South Porcupine. They will be collected food and cash for the Timmins Food Bank, South Porcupine Food Bank, Project Love, and the First Baptist Church. So be sure to stop by your local grocery store this weekend and make a donation for the Cram the Cruiser Event.

 

Holiday Bake Sale

The porcupine Mall is hosting their Annual Holiday Bake Sale this Saturday, Dec. 15th. It starts at 11 AM and runs until goods last. Come check out the assorted holiday baked goods and delicious treats that are beautifully arranged on lovely glass platters that are yours to keep with your purchase. Proceeds from this Bake Sale go to the Timmins and District Humane Society.

 

Ornament Making at the Timmins Museum

Drop by the Museum on Saturday, Dec. 15th for some hands-on kids activities that will link with the Museum’s exhibitions and explore new ideas. Activities will held from 1 PM to 3 PM (while supplies last). Kids can create their own Christmas ornament with salt dough. They can use finger paints to add colourful lights onto a salt dough tree ornament. Add ribbon and sign your name to finish off your personalized creation.

 

TSO Christmas Concert

The Timmins Symphony Orchestra (TSO) and Chorus continue its 40-year anniversary celebrations with their upcoming Christmas concert to be held Dec. 15 at École Secondaire Catholique Thériault’s Charles Fournier Auditorium. The performance, teeming with local talent, will feature professionals and community musicians, children’s choirs, and a collaboration with Take Two Theatre. Tickets are available at the Timmins Museum or at the door. RED seats are $39, SILVER seats are $34, Under 30 seats are $15 and for kids under 12, tickets are $5. The concert starts at 730 PM on Saturday, Dec. 15th.

 

 

T’was the Late Night Before Christmas

Head to the Working Class this Saturday night for a comedy show you won’t want to miss. Watch Santa interview stand-up comedians, including Jill Thayer, John Gagnon, Andrew Autio and Adam McKay. The laughs start at 9 PM at the Working Class on Saturday, Dec. 15th. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

 

Christmas Pageant

Come see a traditional Christmas story on Sunday, Dec. 16th at the Covenant United Church. The Christmas story will be told in song and verse with Sunday School students participating as Mary, Joseph, Wise Men, Shepherds, Angels and Baby Jesus. The Pageant starts at 10:30 AM on Sunday, Dec. 16th at the Church. Coffee will be served afterwards.
