**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


 The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man in relation to a string of events which eventually led to his arrest.

Based on their investigation, the Timmins Police Service allege that the man attended a local grocery store on Monday, December 17th, and fled with approximately $70.00 worth of items.

The same man is alleged to have been involved in a similar incident on Tuesday, December 18th at a retail store in the west end of the city where it is alleged he attempted to steal items but was confronted by store staff members while trying to flee the area.

The Timmins Police Service was called and the man was located a short distance from the area and placed under arrest.

As a result, Lionel KOOSTACHIN, 42, of Timmins has been charged with:
– 2 counts of Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– 2 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
