**SUDBURY OPP NEWS RELEASE**

On January 7, 2019, at approximately 6:40 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Sudbury Detachment members responded to a car versus moose collision on Highway 144 in Greater Sudbury, Ontario.

A motorist travelling northbound on Hwy 144 struck a moose. The motorist suffered no injuries and her vehicle was towed from the scene.

The OPP are reminding motorists of wildlife hazards at all hours of the day but most commonly at dusk and dawn.

Reducing your speed can significantly increase your reaction time. This motorist was able to react and apply the brakes prior to striking the moose which is likely the reason she wasn’t injured.
