**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service, in collaboration with the local Coroner’s Office, is currently investigating a sudden death occurrence where two persons have been pronounced as deceased upon being transported to the Timmins and District Hospital by ambulance earlier this morning.

This matter remains under investigation by the Timmins Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Division where standard investigative protocols are being followed.

Timmins Police Service resources from General Platoon officers as well as the deployment of officers from the Criminal Investigations Division, the Forensic Identifications Unit and the Drug Enforcement Sections have been engaged in this investigation.

The deceased persons have been positively identified. Their names are being withheld pending notifications to next-of-kin. The persons involved were discovered in a South Porcupine apartment early this morning and found to be in medical distress.

An ambulance was dispatched to render emergency medical treatment and transportation to hospital. Upon assessment at the Timmins and District Hospital, both parties were pronounced as deceased.
At present the exact date and location of the Post Mortem examinations have yet to be determined.
