March Break is coming up and there is lots happening in Timmins to keep kids and families busy. Events and activities get started on Friday, March 8th and run until Sunday March 17th.

Here is a breakdown of things happening in Timmins for March Break:

March 8: Concert and Vocal Master Classes featuring three-time Festival Rose Bowl winner Zacharie Fogal. Concert on Friday, March 8 at 7:30 pm at St. Matthews Cathedral. Admission by donation.

Skiing and snowboarding at Kamiskotia Ski Resort from 10am-3pm (skyway chair only)

 

March 9: Spectacle Ariko—Centre Culturel LaRonde. Ariko features the rich vocal harmonies and dynamic fiddle stylings of the Lefaive sisters along with a driving and energetic rhythm section delivered by their parents Laura and Louis. Contact 705-267-8401 for more information.

Skiing & Snowboarding at Kamiskotia Ski Resort 10am-430pm/Tube Park 12pm-4pm for day tubing and 6pm-10pm for night tubing

 

March 9-10 and 16-17: Women’s Progressive Ski Camp. Join Kamiskotia Snow Resort this March for a women’s only ski camp! The ladies camp will take place March 9-10 and March 16-17. More information can be found on the website www.kamiskotia.com. Registration is available online. Please note that this camp needs a minimum of two participants to run (maximum four people).

 

March 10: Skiing & Snowboarding at Kamiskotia Ski Resort 10am-430pm/Tube Park 12pm-4pm

 

March 11-15: Free Sponsored Swims at the Archie Dillon Sportsplex Pool on Monday, Wednesday and Friday the free swim from 1:15 pm to 2:45 pm will be sponsored by Tim Horton’s. On Tuesday and Thursday the free swim at that same time will be sponsored by Caisse Populaire.

March 11-16: Alice in Wonderland Escape Room at the Timmins Public Library. For ages 8+. Call to register at 705-260-2623 ext. 8519

March 11-17: Kamiskotia Ski Resort will be open daily for Skiing  & Snowboarding from 10am-430pm with both the Downhill & Skyway chairs operating.  Tube Park will be open daily from 12pm-4pm.  Please note that WEEKEND PRICING is in effect for the entire duration of March Break.  The Tube Park is run on a first come first served basis and we do not take reservation. Please arrive early to purchase your tickets and expect wait times if arriving later in the day. There is a height requirement of 42″ to use the tube park.

 

March 11: Flow Yoga with Zumba Timmins. Let the music move you! Flow is like nothing like you’ve ever experienced before. Movement led by music that will increase your flexibility, strength and balance. It’s Yoga for the non-yogi. We turn up the music and move our bodies! Beware: This class will make you fall in love with yoga! For more information call 705-221-4821.

Timmins Public Library: A Wonderful Tale: Stories, games and crafts for kids 2 and up start at 10:30am. All activities are free.  Popcorn and a Movie: The Jungle Bunch will be screened at 2pm for kids aged 4 and up. The event is free.

C.M. Shields Centennial Branch: Winter Coloring Cards: kids can color a winter scene from 1-430pm and 6-8pm.

Digital Creator at Timmins Museum NEC:  Improv Acting: Kids (ages 14-19) can spark creativity with improv acting from 11am to 1pm.   Sketch Comedy (ages 14-19): Pitch your ideas and write some sketches from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.   Directing a Scene (ages 14-19):Take control and bring a basic scene to life from 4-6pm.

 

March 12: Whitney Arena Free Skate sponsored by Charlie Angus MP And Gilles Bisson MPP from 12:30 pm to 2:20 pm
Weekly Evening Snowshoe at Porcupine Ski Runners. This event is open to everyone. Come out for a fun evening of exploring the snowshoe trails in the dark. Please bring a headlamp or flashlight to join. Membership or day pass is required to participate. Rentals are available. See website for details. Day Passes are adult $5, senior $3, teen $2, child $1. Rentals are adult $7, senior/teen $6, child $5.

Timmins Rock Fundraiser 2nd Annual Comedy Show featuring Colin Mochrie and Deb McGrath. Tickets can be purchased at www.timminsrock.com. Please share and support your Timmins Rock!

Timmins Public Library: Un Cote Merveilleux: story, games and crafts at 10:30am for French-speaking kids aged 2+.   Craft: Don’t be Late Craft at 2pm for kids 5-12. Cost: $6

C.M. Shields Centennial Branch: Winter Pyjama Party with stories and makerspace at 6:30. All ages welcome for this free event.

Digital Creator at Timmins Museum NEC: Audio Mixing: for kids 11-13 where you can mix beats using GarageBand. from 11am-1pm.    Foley Sounds (ages 14-19): Record and edit your own sound effects from 1:30-3:30pm.    Audio Mixing (ages 14-19): Record your own voice or music and learn audio editing from 4-6pm.

 

March 13: Timmins Public Library: Un Cote Merveilleux: story, games and crafts at 10:30am for French-speaking kids aged 2+.   STEAM Program for kids 9-12: Make the Mad Hatter’s Hat at 2pm.

C.M. Shields Centennial Branch: Giant Board Games: all ages, free fun activity runs from 12-8pm.

Digital Creator at Timmins Museum NEC: Animating with Code (ages 14-19): learn ActionScript and make some 2D animations from 11am-1pm.   Character Design (ages 14-19): Turn your sketches into digital art and draw characters to animate from 1:30-3:30pm.   Game Night (ages 14-19): Air hockey, X Box, Wii Sports and Board Games.

 

March 14: Archie Dillon Sportsplex Free Skate sponsored by Charlie Angus MP and Gilles Bisson MPP on Thursday, March 14, 2019 10:30 am to 12:20 pm.

Timmins Public Library: A Wonderful Tale: Stories, games and crafts for kids 2 and up start at 10:30am. All activities are free.  Craft: Kids 5-12 can make a teacup planter starting at 2pm. Cost is $6.

C.M. Shield Centennial Branch: Cookie Decorating: kids 4-7 can decorate cookies at 10am. Kids 8-15 can decorate at 2pm.

Digital Creator at Timmins Museum NEC: Green Screen (ages 11-13): film some action on the green screen and edit to make a video from 11am-2pm.   Drop in: Stop by to play games, hang out with friends or create something from 3-7pm.

March 14-15: YMCA Kidproof Home Alone Course. This is a two-hour course that is an interactive, participatory program that is designed to teach children to make safe choices when they are at home alone. It is for children ages 10 to14 and the cost is $25. Payment must be made upon registration, prior to the day of the course in order to hold your child’s spot. Please contact our main office to add your child to our registration list. Limited spaces available. Registration forms can be found at http://timminsymca.org/ or at the main office.

 

March 15: Timmins Public Library: Crazy Forts: Build a wonderful reading nook using Crazy Forts from 10am to 5pm. (all ages)   Popcorn and a Movie: Coraline (PG) will be screened at 2pm. All ages, free event.

C.M. Shields Centennial Library: Mandala Embroidery: Kids 6-12 can learn to embroider elegant designs at 2pm. Free activity.

Digital Creator at Timmins Museum NEC: Video 101 (ages 14-10): Plan and shoot a short video project learning cinematography basics from 11am-2pm.    Video Editing (ages 14-19): Edit video that we shot earlier to put on the finishing touches from 3-5pm.

 

March 16: Timmins Public Library: Giant Board Games: have fun with giant board games from 10am-5pm.    Film et Popcorn: La Course des Tuques for kids 4+ at 2pm.

C.M. Shields Centennial Library: Spring Coloring Cards: kids can color a spring scene at 9-11:30am or 1-5pm.

Digital Creator at Timmins Museum NEC: Stop Motion Animation (ages 11-13) Create a short stop motion animated video using clay, lego or your own drawings. Put the images together and add sound effects! Event is 12-4pm.

Kamiskotia Ski Resort: Night tubing will be available on Saturday March 16th from 6pm-10pm.

 

March 17: Brush Strokes Timmins Event. Includes paint, brushes, 11×14 canvas, apron. Ages 3+. Please arrive by 1 pm to check in, find a seat and grab a drink. Light snacks will be available free of charge, and a cash bar will be open for drinks. Your reservation will only be held for 24 hours.
