**JAMES BAY OPP NEWS RELEASE**

The members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to warn residents of the dangers of letting strangers into their residences. Police have responded to several incidents involving a younger female knocking on doors, requesting to use the telephone. Once inside, the suspect steals wallets, purses and/or personal items.

This is one of the many tactics that criminals use and the OPP would like to remind the public not to fall victim to a crime of opportunity. Bring your valuables inside and lock your vehicle doors as well as your house doors and all out buildings.

If anyone has any information regarding this occurrence or any similar occurrences, please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit information online at www.p3tips.com where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2000.

The public can learn more about preventing thefts on the OPP website at www.opp.ca.
