**TIMMINS POLICE NEWS RELEASE**


A Timmins Police Service –Traffic Section officer has charged a local youth with a Stunt Driving related offence under the Highway Traffic Act stemming from an occurrence early this afternoon..
While completing traffic patrol in the downtown core of Timmins, the officer noted the driver of a Mitsubishi Eclipse passenger vehicle allegedly begin to spin the tires on the vehicle and depart at a high rate of speed at the intersection of Algonquin Blvd and Cedar Street in Timmins .

The driver is further alleged to have engaged in a driving maneuver known as “drifting”.
The location of the alleged offence is an intersection with considerable pedestrian traffic as well as a main vehicular traffic artery in Timmins

As a result of the incident, the 17 year old driver from Timmins, has been charged with:
– Stunt Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
The accused person has had his driver’s licence suspended for a period of 7 days and the vehicle has been impounded for a period of 7 days.
The accused was released from custody and is required to attend Provincial Court on May 23rd to answer to the charge laid against him.
