**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**

With community safety in mind, the Timmins Police Service is issuing a traffic safety reminder to motorists in the South Porcupine area.
The Timmins Police Service – Traffic Section is in receipt of a number of traffic complaints from concerned citizens, most of whom have children, in the area commonly known as “Connaught Hill”.
The complaints center on driving behaviors such as speeding and failing to stop at posted Stop signs in this area. With the warmer weather taking hold, motorists should expect an increase in foot traffic in all residential areas with an added safety emphasis focused on young pedestrians and cyclists.

As such, added attention is required in regards to children making their way to or from city parks and schools. It stands to reason that a child’s enthusiasm might cause them to be less safety oriented. Motorists are asked to be mindful and prudent at all times while in control of their vehicles.
The concerns raised by these citizens resonate with the Timmins Police Service. Additional patrol attention and a police presence in this area has been outlined as a measure to remedy this situation.
Those person found driving aggressively can rightfully expect a firm and determined response by the Timmins Police Service.
