**CITY OF TIMMINS NEWS RELEASE**


The City of Timmins has finalized details for this year’s Spring Clean Up.
The item received final approval from Council last night, and this year’s confirmed dates are from June 3 to 13. Tipping fees at the Deloro Landfill will be waived, for RESIDENTIAL USERS ONLY, during this time period.
While the selected contractor is unable to work with this timeline, the city has decided to deploy its own staff to complete the Clean Up, knowing how important it is to its residents. City staff and equipment will be deployed in order to offer this service, taking priority over other work that is not immediately required for safety reasons.
A full collection schedule for 2019 will be posted to the city’s website (www.timmins.ca) soon, and is currently available on ‘The City of Timmins’ Facebook page. Residents are to have their materials at the curb NO MORE THAN TWO DAYS PRIOR to their scheduled collection day.
The volume of material to be collected per residence is limited to no more than half a standard half ton pick-up truck or approximately 60 cubic feet (4 feet wide, by 8 feet long and 2 feet high), and MAY NOT CONTAIN THE

 

FOLLOWING ITEMS:

– Concrete and asphalt: dispose at Deloro Landfill
– Batteries of any type: dispose during Hazardous Waste Day, June 15, 2019 in the Archie Dillon Sportsplex parking lot, from 8 am to 2 pm
– Tires: Many retailers and garages will take back your old tires free of charge and recycle into innovative recycled rubber products. For details and drop off locations, visit www.rpra.ca/programs/tires/collectionsites
– Electronics: dispose at Deloro Landfill and/or Hazardous Waste Day
– Propane tanks: dispose during Hazardous Waste Day
– White goods or items that contain Freon: dispose through private recycling firms
– Recyclables: dispose at Deloro Landfill, Tisdate Transfer Site and German Township Landfill or through regular curbside pickup
– Paints/liquids/fuels/chemicals: dispose during Hazardous Waste Day
– Mattresses or box springs that are not securely wrapped in plastic: dispose at Deloro Landfill
Leaves and yard waste are acceptable in compostable bags. Please do not bag in regular plastic bags. Clean wood is acceptable in a separate pile from the rest of the Spring Clean Up material. MATERIAL NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE GUIDELINES WILL NOT BE COLLECTED, AND THE RESIDENT WILL BE REQUIRED TO REMOVE SUCH MATERIAL FROM THE STREET WITHIN 48 HOURS.
Any containers (such as cans and recycling boxes) left with the waste will be collected; therefore, do not put out containers with the Spring Clean Up pile unless you want to get rid of the container.
