**CITY OF TIMMINS NEWS RELEASE**

The first long weekend of the summer is just around the corner, and Timmins is
ready to celebrate our great nation in style at the Mountjoy Historical Conservation Area (former
Participark)!

Thanks to the team at Tourism Timmins and a large number of community partners, this year’s
celebration will be another one for the books. As the excitement grows for what promises to be
a wonderful weekend, we would like to remind you of a few essentials to help you plan ahead.

Schedule:

An exemption to the City of Timmins Noise by-law 2006-6339, from 11 pm to 2 am on July 1,
2019 has been approved by Council.

Fireworks:
Canada Day wouldn’t be the same without fireworks, and the city is fortunate to have a group of
24 local businesses, led by Bucket Shop Inc. Vice President Paul Woodward, who have been
coming together for several years to light the skies. The group is graciously covering the cost of
fireworks for both Canada Day and this year’s Great Canadian Kayak Challenge and Festival,
being held in August.

A section of Riverside Drive, from Theriault Boulevard to Norman Street will be closed on
July 1, from 9:30 pm to 12 am to accommodate the firework display.
Timmins’ patriotic display of extreme fireworks, produced by Dreamcatcher Fireworks, and
locally sponsored, will be executed to a musical simulcast on local radio stations KiSS FM
(99.3), and Moose FM (93.1) at 10:30 pm for those wishing to watch from their vehicles or from
home.

Transportation:
First Student of Canada Timmins Branch has once again graciously sponsored free busing
services during the Canada Day Celebration in Timmins. First Student buses will start their runs
at 10 am on Monday, July 1, 2019 and end one hour after the event closes. Timmins Transit will
not be operating.

Bus Two – Giant Tiger (South Porcupine), McIntyre Arena, Archie Dillon Sportsplex
