**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**

In keeping with the influx of roughly 250 evacuees from the Indigenous community of Keewaywin, the Timmins Police Service is issuing a Traffic Advisory in regards to current and anticipated increases in pedestrian traffic on Riverside Drive and Highway 101 in the west end of the city of Timmins.

Given that no sidewalks are available in this area and the shoulder is quite narrow, motorists are asked to reduce their speed and take every precaution necessary to enhance the safety of pedestrians in these areas for the foreseeable few weeks.

A large number of evacuees from Keewaywin are temporarily relocated at the Ramada Inn and some may opt to make use of the shoulder portion of the roadway to attend area retail outlets or restaurants.

Pedestrian safety is a top priority for these guests in our city and the benefit of being vigilant and patient behind the wheel will enhance their safety as they make their way to and from chosen destinations in the area.
This issue will be a particular imperative during low light situations at night and during the hours of dusk and dawn.
The cooperation of the motoring public is appreciated in regards to this temporary situation.
