**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service – Traffic Section is continuing to investigate a early morning single vehicle collision involving a pedestrian which occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. yesterday morning at the intersection of Pine Street and Algonquin Blvd in Timmins.

A male pedestrian in his 70’s sustained significant injury as a result of the collision and continues to receive medical treatment at the Timmins and District Hospital.
The driver of the pickup truck involved in the collision remained at the scene and has been thoroughly interviewed by Timmins Police Service investigators.

The investigation is ongoing at this time and the intersection was released and returned to normal operation over the noon hour yesterday. All Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) aspects have been completed by the Timmins Police Service.

Other investigative efforts were undertaken by the Timmins Police Forensic Identification Unit and its Criminal Investigation Division to assist with the investigation. The vehicle involved remains in the custody of the Timmins Police Service so that further forensic and mechanical fitness inspections can take place in keeping with the standard practices involved in such investigations.
