**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service is able to confirm that a male suspect is in custody based on an arrest that took place shortly after 6:00 p.m. today at a Shirley Street North address.

In keeping with an ongoing investigation, the Timmins Police Service had halted all forms of traffic in the 400 block area of Shirley Street North since late yesterday afternoon.

Investigative measures including an outer perimeter and the containment of the immediate area was undertaken by the Timmins Police Service Emergency Response Team (ERT).
Working in collaboration with the Ontario Provincial Police and their regional ERT team and their Tactics and Rescue Unit (Orillia) an arrest was completed where a male subject was taken into custody.

This subject remains in the custody of the Timmins Police Service awaiting a bail hearing at Provincial Court in Timmins, which will likely occur at some point tomorrow.

The name and the charges against the accused have yet to be formalized in terms of having Criminal Code informations duly sworn before a Justice of the Peace.

As such, the name of the accused cannot be made public at this time.
The affected area has been released by the Timmins Police Service and all occupants can return to their residences.
The scene of the arrest remains under the control of the Timmins Police Service until such time as the Timmins Police – Forensic Identification Unit completed its investigative scrutiny of the scene where the accused was located…
