Former NHLer Dean Prentice has passed away.

An obituary says he was surrounded by his family when he passed on Saturday at the age of 87 in Cambridge.

The family is expressing their appreciation to resident Marcel and the staff at Granite Landing for their care of Prentice during his short stay there.

Prentice would be best known for his 22-year NHL career with five teams (New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins and Minnesota North Stars) between 1952 and 1974.

He played 1,378 games and snatched up 860 points (391 goals, 469 assists).
