On Tuesday November 5, Le Centre Culturel La Ronde unveiled what their new facility could look like once the project is complete.

The goal for La Ronde, is to start building in April 2020. So far, La Ronde has received funding on two occasions this year from both governments. They received a million dollars from the Provincial government and close to $500,000 from the Federal government. It was a good start, but they still need about 3.5 million dollars before they can go ahead and start building.

“Were still waiting on more funding from both the Provincial and Federal Government so, in the meantime were going to do a community fundraising. That way it will help us with the funding because, we are still short about three million dollars. We are expecting more funding, but nothing has been approved yet so, that’s why we are going to the community for help.” Ernest Plante President of the Council Board for Centre Culturel La Ronde

The Council Board for La Ronde would love to start building right away if they could but, Plante went on to add that they will not start construction until all the money is there in order to avoid debt.

The new building will be built right where the old La Ronde stood, and that project is projected to take up to 9 months to build. If everything stays on track and they receive the funding on time, La Ronde could be set to open its new doors in February 2021.
