The Timmins Rock wrapped up their road stint with a 5-1 loss to the Hearst LumberJacks, but dominated most of the play.

The first period was pretty balanced; Both teams were trading away chances, but only one team was able to find the back of the net by the end of the first…  the LumberJacks. The LumberJacks, were leading 2-0 at the end of the first 20 minutes, but the Rock made Hearst work for it as the shots were 8-7 for the LumberJacks.

Head on over to the second period, and that’s where the game became tilted. The Rock were flying on all cylinders, and managed to get on the board thanks to a power play goal from Tyler Gilberds. Vance Meyer wasn’t busy at all in that period since he didn’t face any shots. The difference maker in the second period though, was the LumberJacks goaltender Liam Oxner, who stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced in that period. At the end of two, the Rock were only trailing by one, and very much still in the game.

Fast forward to the third period, the Rock get into penalty trouble, and the LumberJacks took full advantage. They scored 2 power play goals in that period, and went on to add an empty netter to seal the deal… Rock lose 5-1.

Even though, the Rock couldn’t pull off the win, it doesn’t mean that they played poorly… the LumberJacks simply put more pucks across the goal line. The Rock will simply have to learn to finish, and capitalize on their opportunities.

They’ll be back on home ice on Sunday November 17 to take on the Blind River Beavers, and will look to put on a good show for Leafs alumni Curtis Joseph, who will be a special guest at the game. Tickets for that game and more information on the Curtis Joseph meet greet can be found at TimminsRock.Com
